About Me

Finding peace by gaining perspective
…from the comfort of your home!

You’ve taken the first step.
You’ve chosen to seek out a mental health professional to help overcome the hurdles you’re facing.

Welcome to my practice, Peaceful Perspectives. I am Alaina Magrini, a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey as well as an Approved Clinical Supervisor and Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider. I provide telemental health counseling to teens/adolescents and adults. I have been providing therapeutic services for over a decade helping people like you navigate life and learn to live healthily and happily. I also supervise provisionally licensed therapists in their path to attaining full licensure.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Manhattan College in New York City, majoring in Elementary Education and Psychology. I spent an incredible year as a 7th grade teacher in an inner-city and realized I loved my students but knew the classroom was not for me. I entered the Master’s of Education in Professional Counseling program at William Paterson University, double majoring in Mental Health and School Counseling. During my graduate studies, I was a full-time paraprofessional in a self-contained special education classroom. Since my graduation in 2010, I have provided services in residential programs, community mental health agencies, outpatient services, and intensive school-based therapeutic programs. I also have experience in higher education as a counselor and professor while overseeing and coordinating an educational/vocational program for cognitively disabled young adults. I like to say that I accidentally fell into the world of mental health but in reality the world of mental health called to me. Long ago, as a 7th grade classroom teacher, I knew I needed to provide a safe, caring, and compassionate haven for my students. I knew that I had a different calling in life and wasted no time in making my dreams a reality.

My therapeutic style tends to be eclectic. My methods are driven by you and your personality. I employ humor along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Solution-Focused methods. I do my best to be as real of a person as I can be. My personality bleeds through to my sessions while encompassing compassion and empathy. I meet you where you are mentally to allow you to get the most out of each session.

I want to be an active participant in breaking the stigma around mental health. Not everyone that seeks treatment requires what the movies depict as treatment- a psychiatric hospital setting. Therapy, even virtually based, can assist clients in learning to overcome life’s stressors. If you are questioning if therapy could benefit you, reach out and let’s talk. Let’s see, together, if you can overcome your hurdles in a safe and confidential space. My role as a professional counselor is to help you find your peace by gaining perspective.
